Reiki & Sound Healing

A space to slow down, reconnect and restore

We are more than the physical body. We are constantly moving through a world of thoughts, emotions, responsibilities and experiences, and all of these influence how we feel within ourselves.

Reiki offers an opportunity to pause.

what is reiki?

The word Reiki is commonly translated from the Japanese words rei, meaning universal or spiritual, and ki, meaning life energy…

Reiki is based on the belief that life energy flows through all living things. When we are feeling overwhelmed, emotionally depleted or disconnected from ourselves, Reiki practitioners believe that this energy can become stagnant or unbalanced.

A Reiki session is designed to create space for the body and mind to settle, allowing you to reconnect with yourself and your own sense of inner balance.

People experience Reiki in different ways. Some describe warmth, tingling or a feeling of lightness, while others simply experience a profound sense of calm. There is no right or wrong way to experience a session.

At its heart, Reiki is about rest, presence and connection.

Rooted in Japanese tradition, Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive energy healing practice that encourages deep relaxation and a greater sense of balance and wellbeing. During a session, the practitioner uses a series of light, intentional hand positions on or just above the body, creating a quiet space for rest, reflection and restoration. There is nothing you need to do or achieve during a Reiki session. You simply allow yourself to be still, breathe, and receive.

Stress, Relaxation & the Nervous System

Modern life can make it difficult to truly switch off…

Our nervous system is constantly responding to what is happening around us. When we experience stress or perceive a threat, the sympathetic nervous system activates the body’s familiar “fight-or-flight” response. Heart rate and alertness increase, muscles prepare for action, and the body temporarily shifts its attention away from functions such as digestion and rest.

This response is essential when we need it, but when stress becomes a constant part of daily life, finding opportunities to relax and recover becomes equally important.

The parasympathetic nervous system helps support the body’s rest-and-digest state. When we feel safe and relaxed, breathing and heart rate can slow, muscles can soften, and the body can move into a quieter state.

This is where intentional rest can become so valuable.

Reiki does not replace medical care or treat illness. Instead, many people use Reiki as a complementary wellness practice to create dedicated time for relaxation, stillness and self-care.

A session gives you permission to step away from the demands of everyday life and simply be.

sound healing

Sound has been part of human ritual, meditation and healing traditions for thousands of years…

Sound healing uses instruments and intentional tones to create an immersive sensory experience. Rather than asking you to focus on a particular thought or outcome, the sounds provide something gentle for the mind to settle into.

During a sound healing session, you may experience singing bowls, chimes, percussion or other instruments. The combination of sound, vibration and stillness can create a deeply relaxing environment and encourage a meditative state.

Like Reiki, sound healing is not about forcing anything to happen. It is an invitation to slow down, become present and reconnect with your body.

Meet Martin McGill
Reiki Master | Sound Healer

I grew up in a small town in the North of Ireland and moved to Canada with my family in 2016…

Growing up in my house, it was customary to use alternative methods of healing. This ranged from charms performed by spiritual healers in towns far away to remove burns, to rubbing potatoes on growths and burying them in the garden. Life in Ireland has a mystical way about it, and I was always aware that the unseen was not to be dismissed.

After 27 years working in the service industry, making a living cooking for others, I knew I needed something more grounding as my future path. I had experienced some health issues that led me to meditation. Meditation brought me to being sober, and sobriety brought me clarity. With this clarity I was able to see that I needed to change the path I was on.

From that point I started practicing Qigong regularly, continued with my meditations, and started my journey with Reiki. Luckily, my wife was already on this journey and joining this path was a natural, easy transition for me.

Meet Jamie McGill
Reiki Master | Sound Healer | RHN

As a child, I felt that I was always searching for something. I knew that there was much more out there then what I could see, but I didn’t realize it would become a lifelong journey of discovery…

When I moved to Ireland in my mid-twenties, I was able to start living a slower, more natural way of life, and it all felt very right to me. I started looking into how I could live a healthier, more balanced life. I learned what I needed to include, and what I had to let go. It was then that I decided to do an online nutrition course. When my family and I moved back to Ottawa, shortly after beginning my course, I attended the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition and became a Registered Holistic Nutritionist. During my studies there I began my journey with Reiki. I am now a Usui and Holy Fire Reiki Master. I also recently finished my level one teachers training Qigong course, a system of wellness that involves meditative movements, breathwork, and acupressure points. Qigong changed my way of thinking about exercise, meditation, and the energy within me, and I am so excited to share it!
